Meet Rishita Singh

Rishita Singh

From Agricultural Insights to Financial Solutions

Rishita Singh, a final-year Computer Science and Engineering student, is preparing to kick off her career by applying her artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge to real-world challenges. Driven by her passion for using AI and technology to tackle problems, she has actively invested herself in different projects during college.

One of them was AgroSahayak, an AI-driven application that offers agricultural assistance tools designed to help farming practices in the field. AgroSahayak leverages AI and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to provide real-time insights into crop health, soil conditions, and weather forecasts. It also aids in detecting soil and plant diseases through image recognition, offers recommendations for addressing these issues, and establishes market linkages that connect farmers directly with buyers.

From agricultural to financial projects, Rishita believes AI is a cornerstone of innovation and already a reality across different industry sectors. “AI is not just a buzzword. From automating mundane tasks to enabling predictive analysis, AI empowers professionals to make smarter decisions and focus on high-impact areas of their work,” she states.

Recently securing a position as an engineer trainee at a global financial institution, Rishita attributes much of her success to her journey with IBM SkillsBuild, a program she met through the Edunet Foundation. “It acts as a bridge between theoretical learning and practical application. The platform helped me network with industry leaders and showcase my skills to potential employers,” she highlights.

According to her, one of the key takeaways from her learning with IBM SkillsBuild was the ability to work with complex datasets and derive actionable insights that can drive business decisions. She explains that beyond that, she also “learned about data visualization, creating impactful dashboards, and presenting data in a way that aligns with organizational goals.”

In 2023, Rishita had the opportunity to present AgroSahayak at an IBM annual event in India and was recognized as a champion contributor for the program in 2024. Her advice to new learners? “Make the most of available resources, participate in hackathons, and explore courses outside your immediate area of interest. These steps can help you gain a versatile skill set and stay ahead in your career.”

IBM SkillsBuild is a free education program aimed at increasing access to technology education. Through the program, IBM supports adult learners, high school and university students and faculty, in developing valuable new skills and accessing career opportunities.
